Are you suffering from sun-damaged skin? AmbianceMD can repair your skin by performing IPL (intense pulsed light) Photo Rejuvenation therapy using a Venus VersaTM medical device. This state-of-the-art medical equipment repairs sun-induced skin damage, acne, age spots, scarring, and wrinkles. It is a popular treatment because it is effective, affordable, and non-invasive.
How Does IPL Work?
A narrow spectrum of light is transmitted through a handpiece which is gently placed repeatedly over the area of skin being treated. Cut-off filters in the handpiece change the wavelength range allowing it to be optimized for different applications and skin types. The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood when treating vascular lesions or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions. The heat from the IPL destroys the dark lesions below the skin. The body’s natural processes then remove the injured tissue and promote collagen production giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance.
What is IPL Photo Rejuvenation?
Venus VersaTM technology uses an intense pulsed light (IPL) with Smart Pulse technology to reduce visible signs of aging. IPL is a non-surgical technique that uses pulsed, broadband light that targets pigmented areas anywhere on your body. The intense light pulses penetrate the skin and cause the pigmented areas to disappear. With this minimally invasive skin procedure, there is very little downtime time and few side effects, making it an effective skin treatment.
How Long Will the Results Last?
Photo Rejuvenation can often significantly reduce pigmentation issues such as brown spots, discoloration, or spider veins for a long period of time.* However, the procedure does not stop the skin from aging, so it is possible that new wrinkles or blemishes will appear over time. For this reason, some patients choose to undergo IPL therapy multiple times over a period of several years.
Who Is IPL Photo Rejuvenation For?
Photo Rejuvenation is ideal for people who have pale to medium or olive-toned skin and wish to refine skin texture and even out skin discoloration. Photo Rejuvenation is not suitable for darker skin types since melanin is one of the primary targets.
What Can I Expect from Photo Rejuvenation?
- Patients apply an anesthetic cream to deaden the area being treated 30 minutes prior to the procedure. There may be a minor “stinging” feeling with each IPL pulse.
- The procedure takes 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
- You will probably need multiple treatments, with one month between procedures.
- The procedure causes no or very little downtime. Your face may turn slightly red and you may feel like you have a mild sunburn, but the redness will go away within a couple of days.
