How Does Acne IPL Treatment Work?

Acne is primarily the result of overactive sebaceous glands that can produce too much oil, which can clog pores. If pores become blocked and acne-causing bacteria is present, then skin can develop pimples in the form of whiteheads, blackheads, and acne inflammation. The Venus Versa^TM dual light design can treat advanced cases of acne deep in the pores, while also preventing a new acne outbreak before it starts.

In order to stop acne at the source, the IPL penetrates through the skin to destroy bacteria and reduce inflammation. Venus Versa^TM equipment uses a dual light technology to treat both the cause and symptoms of acne. The blue light targets and destroys the bacteria, while the longer wavelength red light controls inflammation and promotes faster healing. The applicator also features a cooling system to protect the patient from the heat of the light, keeping you safe and comfortable during the procedure.

What to Expect for Treatment?

During the treatment, you will wear protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the flashes of bright light. A cool gel is applied to the area being treated to avoid damage to the skin. The medical technician will then apply pluses of bright light to the skin through a handheld device that presses gently against the skin. Acne treatment procedures can take anywhere from a few minutes up to an hour. For optimal results, a series of eight to ten treatments may be necessary.*
