The active stage of hair growth is called the anagen phase. At any time, only 10 to 15% of the hair is in the anagen phase. During this phase the hair shaft is thick and contains the most melanin, the pigment that give your hair its color. The laser targets and destroys the melanin in hair shafts and follicles, and the hair will no longer grow. Because all the hair in a treated area may not be in the anagen phase, 6 to 8 treatments are necessary to remove the hair that subsequently enters the growth phase.
The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment – destroying several hair follicles with each pulse – but not long enough to damage the surrounding follicle.

The laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. This light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.
Laser hair removal can significantly reduce hair growth, but it’s not always permanent. Periodic maintenance treatments may be needed to keep the area hair-free.
The number of sessions varies depending on your hair type, color, the area being treated, and your hair growth cycle. Typically, 6-8 sessions are required for the best results.
Some clients experience discomfort similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. We use cooling techniques to minimize discomfort, making it a tolerable experience for most people.
